Automotive Catalyst Coatings

Cerium oxide is well known as an oxidation catalyst. For this reason, it is often used as a wash coat in Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) and Three-Way Catalyst (TWC) systems where it lowers emissions of particulate matter (PM), hydrocarbons (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO). Because it is a catalyst which promotes the oxidation of soot by both Oxygen (O2) at higher exhaust gas temperatures and Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) at lower temperatures, cerium oxide can greatly improve the performance of DPFs. Furthermore, because its sintering temperature is much higher than normal exhaust gas temperatures it is resistant to deactivation by sudden exotherms. Cerium oxide nanoparticles have a very high surface area for catalysis and are small enough not to block pores.

Suitable for a wide range of Automotive Catalyst Coating applications, including the manufacture of Catalysed Diesel Particulate Filters (CDPF). Envirox™ CatCoat is a unique, water-based formulation containing cerium oxide nanoparticles.
